About

The Graduate Tax Program, established in 1959, was one of the first of its kind in the country, and it continues to be one of the best. BU Law ranks 5th in tax law among law schools that offer an LL.M. in Taxation, according to U.S. News and World Report. An LL.M. in Taxation from BU Law reflects a mastery of the practice, ethics and subtleties of tax law.

Our curriculum - consisting of five required courses and more than 30 challenging electives - offers you a balance between tax law theory and practical application, meeting the needs of lawyers who wish to excel as tax practitioners. The curriculum makes it possible for you either to select a wide spectrum of elective courses and gain exposure to all areas of tax, or to concentrate on courses that will prepare you for specialization in a particular area.

You may attend on either a part-time or full-time basis. Classes are scheduled only during the late afternoon and evening hours to facilitate participation by working lawyers. The Program’s student body is comprised of recent law school graduates as well as seasoned attorneys from both the public and private sectors, many of them from the nation's leading law and tax consulting firms.

Beginning in Fall 2012, the Graduate Tax Program will be offered completely online. This flexible program option will allow students to complete the program and earn an LL.M. in Taxation in as few as four sessions of part-time study, or over the course of four years!
