University of Southampton, UK, to launch LLM in Insurance Law

The University of Southampton Law School, UK, announced to launch an LLM program in Insurance Law.

Insurance contract law has been offered by the Law School as an optional subject at undergraduate level since 2011; students of the new LLM program will study two compulsory modules in insurance law and marine insurance, choose two others to complete their taught program and write a dissertation in the summer.

Senior Research Fellow Johanna Hjalmarsson leads the LLM program. She says “Insurance law is a topic of major importance to private individuals and the commercial sector alike, but is researched or taught at only a very small number of universities in the UK and other common law jurisdictions. It is a complex and intriguing subject that is fascinating to study and offers a multitude of rewarding career prospects.”
