The University
Founded in 1853, Washington University is an independent university located in the city of St. Louis. Made up of seven graduate and undergraduate schools, the university offers more than 90 bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs and has more than 28,000 students from all fifty states and more than 110 countries. Washington University features world-renowned faculty members who are experts in their fields.

The Law School
Washington University School of Law is the oldest continually operating private law school west of the Mississippi. Housed on campus in Anheuser-Busch Hall, the School of Law has more than 700 students and more than 100 faculty members. Since its founding in 1867, the School of Law has been building a reputation as the best place in the country to become a lawyer. The school strives to nurture a community that produces outstanding research and acts in service to people all over the world. Washington University School of Law is ranked in the top 25 of American law schools by U.S. News and World Report.

Location
Since Louis and Clarke began their historic journey here in 1804, millions have been drawn to St. Louis’ unique location, pastoral surroundings, and enterprising spirit. Now, three centuries later, St. Louis remains a destination of the midwest region, and it continues to be a hub of innovation and discovery. Thanks in part to universities like Washington University, St. Louis produces much of the country’s research and business development, especially in the fields of biotechnology and plant science.

LLM Faculty
Washington University School of Law faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized legal professionals with expertise in international law, constitutional law, corporate law and private law. Our faculty specialize in a broad range of methodologies, including empirical studies, law and economics, and critical race theory. In addition to extensive research and scholarship, law professors head the law school’s three centers and one institute, devoted to empirical research, innovation and economic growth, work and social capital, and international law.
Our faculty are also genuinely committed to teaching. With a student-faculty ratio of 13:1, faculty are readily accessible to answer students’ questions about class materials, current issues in the law and even career options. Many of our faculty are closely connected to law school alumni and help to facilitate networking opportunities between current students and alumni in related fields.

The online LL.M. at Washington University is for experienced lawyers and for those who have recently graduated from law school. Ours is an international community of working professionals, which allows for global collaboration between peers.
